4 x 4 routes. The 4 X 4 trail covers between 60 and 100 kilometers depending on your length of stay and stamina. For the more experienced driver there are between four or five difficult sections depending on weather conditions. |
| Bird watching. The feathered folk abounds at Shelanti and the birding enthusiast can have a delightful time trying to identify as many as possible of our 260 plus species of birds. Included are the majestic martial eagle, the noble black eagle, the fish eagle or the odd bateleur. African hawk, Tawny, Wahlberg and brown and black breasted snake eagles by no means completes the list. Nocturnal birds of prey may be encountered during night drives. The very rare Kori bustard may be encountered while the stately secretary bird regularly patrols the open places for a juicy morsel. Water birds abounds during the wet season and adds another dimension to an already impressive number of birds. Enough specials occur to keep the discerning birding enthusiast happy. |

 Paradise. For the lover of butterflies, Shelanti caters in abundance. The orange tip and African monarch amazes you with their colours and aerial acrobatics, while many other species can be seen, of which a few are scarce. Insects will make the day (or night) of any entomologist and to watch the dung beetles sumo wrestling one another at a pile of dung, makes for fascinating watching. |
Relaxation. Playing pool or lazing around the crystal clear swimming pool may just be what you need to round of an exhilarating day and getting some color again. Shelanti hospitality has become a byword. Personal attention and truly sumptuous meals awaits you when you arrive back from your foray into the bush or after a doing-nothing time in the lounge. A bar that will help even the most thirsty to quench their thirst is right at your elbows. Sit around the outside fire listening to the language of lions or have a cozy winter evening around the fireplace inside the lapa listening to all sorts of tall tales. |
 Fauna and Flora. The unspoiled veldt consists of typical thorn bush, acidic grass pastures and sweet bush veldt. Fauna and Flora that has to be experienced the Shelanti way. With a new vista around every corner, our Game Rangers are qualified, helpful, and ready to assists the questions you may have. Shelanti's 11 000 hectares (27 500 acres) of mixed, malaria-free bush veldt has it's own Woody Big Ones. The productive Marula, the centuries-old lead wood, amazing knop thorn, white syringa, or the tamboti with mahogany, black monkey thorn, or the scarce sneeze wood also views for top spot. But don't forget the many species of Combretum together with the very obvious silver cluster leaf and may others lend great variety to a list of trees that numbers around one hundred. In season you can taste different fruits from the bush or just enjoy the surprising amount of flowers. |
